Help small retailers by buying from them

Bestel chocolade bij De Bonte Koe

It’s always good to support your local entrepreneur, but in times like these, it is extra important. Help small retailers by buying from them. Stores that are forced to remain closed due to the low number of customers are coming up with creative solutions for online ordering and free delivery. Other businesses have chosen to remain open, with appropriate measures. Support your locals in these uncertain times.

Buurman Rotterdam

Buurman Rotterdam has activities on offer for you to do during the quarantine. Where they normally offer woodwork workshops, you can now order various Buurman DIY kits. Assemble your own laptop stand or vegetable garden box at home. The kit can be collected, without contact, or can be delivered to you at an extra cost. Besides the construction kits, Buurman Rotterdam also has seven other tips showing how you can continue to support them during this time.

De Bonte Koe

‘Chocolate helps!’ is the slogan of chocolate maker De Bonte Koe. The stores are currently closed, but online ordering is possible. The store in Schiedam will remain open for pick-ups. Because of the shelf life of bonbons and bouchees, these products are being sold at a 30% discount (discount code: chocoladehelpt). If you live in Rotterdam or Schiedam, De Bonte Koe will deliver its chocolate to you by cargo bike.

Sweet Rebels

You also want to look good on the screen for that virtual party or online date! That’s no problem with the free delivery from vintage store Sweet Rebels. They offer their second-hand gems through photos and videos on Instagram Stories. And, especially during this corona time, delivery is free.

Een bloemetje op tafel

Bring spring into your home with a bunch of daffodils or send a colourful bouquet to someone who could use a little cheering up. This difficult time calls for flowers. The store on the Nieuwe Binnenweg will remain open with appropriate measures. Especially during this time, delivery is free for orders from €25.

Het Rotterdams Warenhuis

If you have a friend, family member or colleague who is unable to celebrate their birthday because of the corona measures, why not order a real Rotterdam gift via the webshop of Het Rotterdams Warenhuis? The online shop temporarily offers a wrapping service, and it’s also possible to send a personal card. Let someone special know you’re thinking of them on their birthday.

De Verbaasde Ree

Now that you are spending a lot of time at home, you naturally want to make it extra cosy. Check out the colourful interior items from De Verbaasde Ree. From vintage furniture to pillowcases, vases and wall prints, De Verbaasde Ree is now offering everything online via their webshop and Instagram account. Most products can be sent by post. Delivery is possible when ordering large items

Keet Rotterdam

Gift shop Keet Rotterdam has also come up with creative solutions for the corona measures. They are offering 15 minutes of personal shopping. You can have the entire store to yourself for a quarter of an hour, or you can opt for the online variant where a Keet employee will personally show you the extensive range for 15 minutes. Your carefully selected gift will then also be delivered to your home for free.
